About the project
The “Bee Path” project aims to create a model-type tourist and educational center in a rural area (Nor Amanos village, Armenia), based on the development of beekeeping, apitherapy, and eco-tourism. The project is focused on the socio-economic development of the local community and the restoration of the connection between humans and nature.
Problem
Rural areas face population outflow, limited employment opportunities, and low income levels. The lack of infrastructure for tourism, education, and leisure reduces economic activity and prevents the effective use of the natural potential of the area. Beekeeping, despite its ecological and economic significance, remains underdeveloped and poorly integrated into the tourism and educational environment.
Project Goal
To create a sustainable tourist center that combines apitherapy, beekeeping, and educational activities, with the aim of:
– creating new jobs;
– generating additional income for local residents;
– developing eco-tourism;
– raising awareness about the role of bees in the ecosystem.
Solution and Approach
The project includes:
– providing apitherapy services as a form of natural health improvement and relaxation;
– conducting educational programs and excursions dedicated to the life of bees, beekeeping, and bee products;
– involving local residents in servicing tourists, producing, and selling beekeeping products.
The project is implemented with the active participation of the local community, which enhances its sustainability and social significance. The center will become a space for recreation, learning, and ecological education.
Economic and Social Impact
The project will create jobs for the residents of Nor Amanos village (Armenia), generate additional income through tourist services and the sale of bee products, and engage youth and women in economic activities without the need for migration. Additionally, the project will contribute to strengthening community ties and developing local initiatives.
Ecological and Educational Impact
The project aims to promote beekeeping as an ecologically sustainable activity, foster a culture of responsible tourism, and raise visitors’ awareness of the importance of bees for biodiversity and agriculture.
Expected Results
The implementation of the project will allow:
– to create a sustainable model of rural tourism;
– to increase employment and incomes of the local population;
– to develop beekeeping and related activities;
– to contribute to the preservation of ecosystems and biodiversity;
– to lay the foundation for the long-term sustainable development of the region.
