Beneficiaries: people with mental and physical disabilities – the disabled

Social issue

Education in the field of social entrepreneurship and education in general is inaccessible to people with hearing and vision problems. No university or college offers education specifically designed for them. They do not receive education and cannot find work. There is discrimination; they are not hired. We teach them to start their own Social Business in their villages and address this issue. People with intellectual disabilities, autism, vision and hearing problems in Armenia often remain isolated because they cannot find paid work and live a normal life.

In Armenia, there are over 60,000 adults with various disabilities: mental disabilities. However, it is difficult to provide an exact figure, as people with autism, people with developmental delays, and people with mild mental disorders are accounted for by different state agencies. In the city, there are several tens of thousands of people with mental disabilities who need meaningful work and communication. At the same time, relatives and families of people with mental disabilities cannot find work because they need to take care of them. Society is often not ready to accept and see people with mental disabilities in public places.

Before the emergence of our organization, several non-profit organizations worked with them and continue to do so, helping to employ people with mental disabilities or other disabilities. However, the need for employment is much greater than the available opportunities.

The School of Social Entrepreneurs – an international academy – is a specialized scientific and educational institution in the field of education in the Republic of Armenia and abroad, operating since 2018.

The educational program of social entrepreneurship “Become a social entrepreneur, build YOUR COMMUNITY.”

All educational programs of our company (School of Social Entrepreneurs and Academy of Social Entrepreneurs) are trilingual, video lessons are accompanied by sign language interpretation and subtitles.

People with disabilities can also participate in our educational program (it is also accessible to people with hearing and vision problems). No special business skills, abilities, or business ideas are required to participate in the educational program.

Our company provides a complete set of tools for creating a profitable enterprise (from A to Z). The SE School and SEI Academy have developed 4 inclusive educational programs that meet international standards. “StartUp Social Business PRO” (1.5–2 months, 10 modules) is an educational program that provides basic knowledge for creating a social enterprise, in both in-person and online formats. “Social Business Owner Max” (3 months, 18 modules)

is an educational program for founders and managers of small and medium-sized businesses/enterprises, in both in-person and online formats. “Social Business Owner Self-Study” – an automated educational program for self-study.

Fully online format, 9 educational modules on small and medium business, 39 video lessons (recorded meetings – video lessons), practical assignments.

“Become a social entrepreneur, develop your community and/or region!” Educational program Changemakerscommunity (2-3 months, 12 modules), in-person and online format.
