About the project

The “Sunkela” project is more than just the production of oyster mushrooms. It is a warm social initiative created to support families raising children with disabilities and other vulnerable groups. Through mushroom cultivation, we provide people with the opportunity to work, learn, and feel their worth. “Sunkela” helps families find stability and hope, and our community become stronger and more united. For us, this is not just a business, but a way to change lives for the better.

Sunkela supports parents of children with disabilities living in the village of Sasunik in the Aragatsotn region of Armenia. There are 12 families in Sasunik with children with disabilities. We create conditions for part-time employment, as many parents are unable to work full-time due to the constant care of their child. With a flexible schedule at Sunkela, they receive a stable income while still being able to fully care for their children. Additionally, parents receive training in the technology of independent mushroom cultivation, which gives them real prospects for starting their own small business in the future.

With funding and the appropriate equipment for independent mushroom bag production, we will be able to create more jobs and new opportunities for the entire community. Over the course of one year, 10 people will undergo training, 3-5 people will work in oyster mushroom production, and 3-5 people at the initial stage will receive 20 ready bags of oyster mushrooms for free. They will grow the oyster mushrooms independently, and we will later purchase them from them for use in our production process.
