About the project
A year ago, Ruth was struggling to support her family. Today, she runs a small but growing business in Mukono, Uganda, supplying doughnuts to schools and local shops.
She didn’t start with much, just a basic training, a small amount of money, and a willingness to try. At first, things didn’t work well. Her products didn’t sell, and she had to learn through trial and error.
Everything began to change when she gained access to the ability to use her phone to find customers and grow her business.
Today, Ruth sells everything she produces and has a stable daily income. She can support her family, cover basic needs, and plan for the future.
But Ruth’s story is not unique.
Across Mukono District, many women are already running small businesses selling food, clothes, or handmade goods but remain stuck at a very small scale.
They work hard, but lack access to:
- digital skills
- financial knowledge
- tools to reach new customers
- stable income opportunities
For women with disabilities, these barriers are even higher. This is where Thrive Together Initiative comes in.
The project provides practical training in entrepreneurship, digital marketing, and financial literacy helping women turn small, informal activities into sustainable sources of income.
The goal of this campaign is to support training for 150 women, including women with disabilities, giving them the tools to grow their businesses, reach wider markets, and build more stable livelihoods.
When women gain skills, income, and confidence the impact goes far beyond one business. It supports families, strengthens communities, and creates long-term change.
