If you're creating a crypto wallet for the first time, we've gathered the most important recommendations to help you do it safely and stress-free.
Where to Safely Download a Wallet ⬇️
To protect yourself from phishing and fake apps, only download wallets from:
- Official websites
- App Store or Google Play
GrantiX recommends wallets that support WalletConnect: MetaMask, Trust Wallet, Coinbase Wallet, and others.
❗️ Do not install wallets from random links or forwarded files.
What You Need to Know About the Seed Phrase ⬇️
A seed phrase is your personal backup key. If you lose it, you lose access to your wallet. No one, including GrantiX or wallet support, can recover it.
How to store it safely:
- Write it down on paper
- Keep it in a secure place at home
- Make 1–2 copies
- Never store it on your phone or in the cloud
- Never share it with anyone
Treat it like treasure (just don’t stick it on the fridge 😄).
Important Legal and Tax Facts ⬇️
Although you can open a wallet almost anywhere, there are rules you should be aware of:
- In many countries, you need to declare and pay taxes on any crypto profits (sales, exchanges, earnings).
- In some jurisdictions, crypto is completely banned, including wallet ownership (e.g., China, Egypt, Qatar).
- Cryptocurrency laws change very quickly: what’s allowed today might change tomorrow.
