We are raising USD 600 to support the Davao Blockchain Builder Discovery Pilot on October 13, 2026, at Jose Maria College Foundation (JMCFI). The campaign will help Davao DeFi Community engage 100+ IT and Computer Science students through a four-hour blockchain and Ethereum learning and builder-discovery activity. About the project

Davao Blockchain Builder Discovery Pilot

The Davao Blockchain Builder Discovery Pilot is a university-based talent discovery and onboarding initiative led by Davao DeFi Community (DDC) at Jose Maria College Foundation (JMCFI).

On October 13, 2026, DDC will engage 100+ IT and Computer Science students in a four-hour session covering blockchain and Ethereum fundamentals, the pathway to becoming a blockchain developer, and how technical skills can eventually be applied to projects that address real community needs.

Why We Are Doing This

The goal is not simply to run another blockchain awareness event.

We want to identify students who are genuinely interested in becoming builders and create a measurable talent pipeline for deeper technical training.

Students will receive practical grounding in:

• Blockchain and Ethereum fundamentals

• Smart contracts and decentralized applications

• Blockchain developer skills and learning pathways

• Development tools and resources

• Public goods and community-focused technology projects

From Students to Potential Builders

Interested students will be invited to opt into a continuing builder pathway and complete a Builder Interest & Readiness Assessment.

The assessment will help us understand their programming experience, technical skills, previous projects or GitHub profiles where available, Web3 exposure, areas of interest, availability for deeper training, and community problems they may be interested in solving through technology.

What We Aim to Achieve

For this pilot, our targets are:

• 100+ students reached

• 30+ students opting into the builder pathway

• 15+ completed readiness assessments

• 10–15 potential candidates identified for further technical assessment and training

• Participant feedback and documented pilot results

These are pilot targets rather than guaranteed outcomes. The purpose is to generate real data that can help determine whether a deeper technical program should follow.

How the Funding Will Be Used

We are seeking USD 600 to support Phase 1: Discovery & Onboarding.

The funding will support:

• Technical resource persons

• Student onboarding and learning materials

• Local transportation and event logistics

• Food and participant support

• Documentation and post-event reporting

Davao DeFi Community will contribute program and curriculum development, university coordination, community management, speaker coordination, onboarding infrastructure, ecosystem connections, volunteer support, and continued community engagement after the event.

What Comes Next

If the pilot identifies a viable pool of motivated students, the results will help determine whether to proceed with a Phase 2 hands-on technical workshop focused on deeper development skills, technical competency, team formation, and project building.

Our intended pathway is:

Discovery & Onboarding → Technical Skill Development → Builder Teams → Prototype Development → Locally Relevant Public Goods

The starting point is simple: identify motivated local talent, understand their readiness, and create a pathway for promising students to move from learning about blockchain to actually building with it.
